Stella Maessen is a Dutch singer, born in Zandvoort but later on living in Harderwijk. She rose to fame with her sisters when they formed the Hearts of Soul. They represented the Netherlands in the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest. In 1973, they moved to Belgium. Stella’s brother-in-law Luc Smets joined the group and they became Dream Express. With the song with the same name, they scored their first hit in Flanders. They represented Belgium in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest. The band split up in 1981. Stella took part in the Belgian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest in the same year with the song “Veel te veel”. One year later, she went to Eurovision for a third time, this time with the song “Si tu aimes ma musique”. Het solo attempt was the most successful one, rewarded with a 4th place. She released a couple of solo singles like “Can’t live on memories” and “Flashlight”. From 1988 until 2019, she worked in a boutique.
