Marcel Pavel is a Romanian folk music singer . Since 1981 he has held numerous tours abroad: Holland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, France (Paris), Switzerland (Lausanne, Geneva), Austria, Poland, Egypt, Israel, United States, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Estonia, Republic of Moldova. His singing talents brought him to the top of the Romanian charts more than once. In 2002, Marcel was elected as The best male voice. His biggest hit was “Frumoasa mea” by Ovidiu Komornyc. The album with the same name was sold in 250,000 copies, for which the Platinum Disc was awarded. In the same year, he represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest in duet with Monica Anghel with the song “Tell me why”.
Marcel Pavel married Violeta Șmîșleaeva, former ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, in 1992. The couple has three children.
