Lake Malawi was formed in September 2013. Lake Malawi’s logo is a wavy line that symbolizes the feminine principle and, together with the name, is inspired by Calgary Bon Iver’s song. The very first single “Always June” in the same year introduced the frontman Albert Black personally with a guitar on the live BBC London. Beach, Nectarines & Daim and Paris also received the same accolades. In the following year, the band played on several festivals in the Czech Republic. In May 2015, they released the debut EP “We Are Making Love Again”. In the same year, the band performed at The Great Escape Festival in Brigton, UK. In the autumn Lake Malawi decided to go round the Czech Republic with an acoustic Furch Tour. Because of his great success the tour repeated the same year a year later. “The Chinese Trees” single became a success. The band also opened for such names as 30 Seconds to Mars, MIKA and The Kooks in their Prague performances. In the autumn of 2017, after long and careful preparations, Lake Malawi released their debut album “Surrounded by Light”. They represented the Czech Republic in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Friend of a friend”.
