Biography

Carlos Mendes is a Portugues singer, actor, composer. He started his musical career in 1963, founding the band Sheiks. The band split up in 1967, and Carlos moved on as a solo artist. In 1969, he performed a song “Penina”, penned by Paul McCartney. n 1976, together with Paulo de Carvalho, among others, he founded the independent record label Toma Lá Disco, which also released his own records. He also appeared in some television series and wrote music for films. Carlos released 12 solo albums between 1976 and 1999, and toured intensively in Europe, Brasil and the Soviet Union. He represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 1968 and in 1972.
